Delta Dental of North Carolina Announces $243,000+ in Grants Across N.C.

Grants include establishment of Delta Dental Oral Oncology Fellowship Fund, giving students access to one of the less than 10 programs in the U.S. that provide patient care and clinical training specific to the needs of cancer patients

High Point, N.C. - (July 18, 2024) - : The Delta Dental Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of North Carolina (DDNC), has announced ten grants totaling $243,320for programs across N.C. that will increase access to oral health care and workforce education, including the establishment of the Delta Dental Oral Oncology Fellowship Fund at High Point University’s Workman School of Dental Medicine. This fellowship will increase the delivery of care to cancer patients and train oral healthcare providers to manage oncology patients.

The grants include:

  • $180,000 over three years to High Point University to establish the Delta Dental Oral Oncology Fellowship
    Fund at the University’s Workman School of Dental Medicine;
  • $10,000 to the Carteret County Health Department for oral health services for underserved children;
  • $10,000 to the Refugee Community Partnership for interpreters for low-income refugee and migrant
    adults receiving dental services;
  • $10,000 to Wake Smiles to provide prosthetics at no cost to uninsured adults;
  • $7,500 to the Community Care Clinic of Rowan County to increase access to oral health care in Iredell and
    Stanly counties;
  • $7,500 to the Dental Lifeline Network for case management for patients receiving donated dental services
    across N.C.;
  • $7,500 to TROSA for dental care for individuals in substance use disorder recovery;
  • $5,820 to Advance Community Health for its Smile Defenders on Wheels mobile dental program;
  • $5,000 to Guilford Technical Community College Foundation for its Dental Science Programs’ dental
    assisting and hygiene scholarships.
